One of our key focuses at Kingdom Quilts is finding ways to give back to our community (and other communities!) through charity work. This can be anything from donating completed quilts, supplying backings for and finishing donated tops, to cash donations for those in need. I (Mikel) have worked on many charity quilts over the years, and nothing touches my heart quite like being able to touch someone else’s heart with a homemade quilt. A quilt is more that just a blanket. It is warm and serviceable, yes, but it’s also a representation of time, effort, resources, and care, lovingly combined into tangible comfort.
To date, I have been involved in charity quilts for: wildfire victims, house fire victims, premature babies, cancer patients, intensive care patients, abuse survivors, hospice and Alzheimers patients.
It is our commitment to put a portion of every sale towards charity projects. Determining where to direct said charity efforts is where you come in! Do you know of a charity organization that could benefit from a quilt donation? Maybe a hospital is collecting baby quilts for it’s NICU ward. Maybe a senior’s center could use some new fidget quilts. Maybe your neighbour just lost her husband and could use some comfort. Maybe you know a family whose house just burnt down. If You think they could use a quilt, then let us know! We will look into the situation and do our very best to help how we can. You can also email us about information regarding discounts for fabric purchased for charity projects.
